I don't think our experience is typical but this is what happened.
At the interview the officer asked my fiance:
Have you been married before?
Do you have kids?
Problems with police?
Problems with immigration?
Where was your fiancee born?
What is your fiancee's full name?
What are her parents' names?
Where does she work?
Why aren't you wearing an engangement ring?
You go to school but you don't work, who pays for your classes?
Is your fiancee with you?
Then he told my fiance to bring me inside.
When I arrived they called both of us back up to the window.
He asked me if I spoke Spanish and I said yes. He asked me how I learned Spanish. He had me raise my hand and swear to tell the truth. The rest of the interview was in Spanish.
He said, "your fiance just told me that he wants to have 10 kids."
At which point, I just about passed out. I'm like you told him what? Are you out of your mind? And my fiance is standing there giving me this innocent look, shaking his head saying no. I never said that. So I look at the officer, and he repeats, "he just told me he wants 10 kids."
So I took a deep breath stopped panicking and calmy (as possible)
told him no, we've talked about this, we only want 1-2.
Then he asked:
Does your fiance go to school?
Who pays for it?
What do you do?
Why aren't you wearing an engagement ring?
When was the last time that you fought with your fiance?
Then he asked, Names "de carino" that you use with each other?
After the questions he said that my fiance was eligible for a waiver.
