My appointment was at 7.20am so we arrived around 7am and there was already some people waiting outside the building, we then entered the building, passed security and was told to go to the second floor. When you're on the second floor there's a guard at the door who tells you to deposit your interview letter at the window by the end of the room and take a seat 'cause they'll call you when it's your turn..I was probably called around 7.40am...not sure...and the whole interview lasted about 20/25 minutes.
A young Asian lady called my name so we got up and followed her to her office...before we even sat down she asked us to raise our right hand and she asked us to swear to tell the truth and we said yes..she then opened my file on the table and she had another piece of paper on her right where she was checking boxes and writing down our answers to her questions..
She started by asking us our ID's, Driving License, Passport, SSN card and EAD card for me, Passport and Driving License for my wife...she noticed my wife's old address on her Driving License..so I told her that we changed it online and the DMV told us to write it at the back...so she checked and was ok..
She then asked me to confirm my parents' names and where they live and my phone number and she asked me all the no questions...(I485...)...then she asked me to put on the table all the joint documents we had and she said "copies are fine"....she was checking them and highlighting where our name was and I was explaining her briefly what every document was...(cell phone plan, car ins...etc...) and everything was good...
Then she asked my wife if she was still at her old job and she told her no, I have a new job since september ....so she asked if we filed our 2008 taxes and my wife started mumbling something...so I told her that we have the W2's but we're waiting for the P60's from England to file our taxes and their financial year ends in March...she was ok with it...and I told her we have a letter from her current employer and 3 months of pay stubs...and she was happy with that...she checked that my wife was making enough money and she said "looks good"...
She kept flipping the pages on our file while telling us that she was checking that everything was ok...then she started asking us when, how and where we met....and we started telling her the long story...and she asked when did I proposed and where...and when we got married and where...and who was at the wedding....while we were answering all her questions, she was briefly writing down our story and looking at us....then she asked to see some photos...so I gave her the scrapbook my wife made for me in 2006 where there are pictures of us, from the wedding and with each other families, including thanksgiving, xmas, in London, in Italy and in the US....she liked the pictures and she was commenting on some of them (aww..I love this picture...) but she didn't take any of them, even if I told her that she could take any of those pictures 'cause they're all prints from my laptop...
So far so good until she asked me if I came together with my wife last time I entered the US ( I came on VWP...so my heart started pounding...).....to which i just answered "yes"....and she said "ok..everything looks good so I'm going to approve you...you should receive your green card within two weeks"...and she put a stamp on my file and took my I94W and my EAD card while saying to me "you're a resident now so you don't need this anymore"...and she started explaining us the I751 procedure (removing of conditions)...then she went to make some copies of our ID's and came back saying "that's it...congratulations"....and it was over...
