PRE-SCREENER:
This pinay is a big BITCH!!! We have all the required documents according to their instructions. But then, he asked my husband how come the birth certificate was late registered(1998)and she asked for my husband's baptismal which unfortunately due to nervousness my husband said, "We dont have it,"; but with my presence of mind, I thought about his driver's license and voter's ID. This "B" is staring at us sarcastically. Pls if possible avoid WINDOW 17 and because you are in for interrogation like you are suspect!
CONSUL: This consul is a fine young man only in physical features, probably in his early 30's, caucasian, and very demeaning. He asked my husband (the beneficiary) to get out and asked me to stay after he asked my husband: what is his name, how old is he and what is his job? Then, he turned to me and asked me. This are all his questions:
1. How often do you come in the Philippines? Every year? How can you afford? Where do you get the money?
Answer: Almost every year.. I am a registered nurse. I earn pretty descent money for living!
2. No offense, why did you marry him? He is just a security guard and you are a registered nurse?
Answer: If you love someone I dont think status matters.
3. You are in your 30's and he is just 26, maybe you will just divorce him after four years so he could just go there in the states ( Not even and question, "his opinion") Which made me so furious!!
Answer: No, why would I do that! We fell in love that's it! We met in his job and at that time I was depressed because I just had my separation with my ex-husband. My husband right now is very nice.
4. Your ex-husband was he black or white?
A: Black (I find this question discriminating)
%. What type of visa did you use? Since when have you stayed in the US? When did you get your US citizenship?
A: I came in a K-1. I have lived there since 1999. I had my citizenship around April 2006.
5. When was your divorce finalized? Why did you divorce?
A:My divorce was finalized last January 8, 2008. Well, my ex cheated on me (and on my mind "Dont you think that's enough reason!!")
5. Then you already got married, April 2008?
A: Well, in North Carolina you have to be separated first for about a year which we did since 2004. Then when I filed and payed for the divorce, he does not want to sign in! So I have to pay publications so it would be publicized in about three months in local newpapers. I payed for all the divorce fee! (At this time, I think my voice was louder and I was about to cry not for helplessness but anger.. On my mind, "I payed about $15,000/year in my taxes (my income is - $75,000/year) so like you who works in the government will have a salary. And the fact that you work outside the states which means you dont pay taxes have the guts to asked me and interrogate me like this" You got to be kidding me!!).
**** At this time, I think this consul saw my elevated anger and mood and told me he apologized for asking all these questions, but unfortunately there are people who practice fraud in the Philippines. (I just sighed!)
**** Further, he said, "Again accept my apology. Your husband's visa is approved and hope you guys enjoy your life in the states!"
NOTE: DO NOT GET INTIMIDATED BY THESE PEOPLE.. THEY ARE ONLY PEOPLE!!!!
