We had our interview on Jan 29, 2009. She was asked a few questions:
How did you meet?
What restaurant? (The consular then proceeded to tell her there was no such restaurant)
Then he went through her passport and asked asked about all the trips she had gone on and with who.
The thai girl behind him was not very helpful, she kept telling him not here, when he would ask for evidence. We had over 400 pages of phone calls, chat logs, sms messages, and emails. So we ended up getting a slip telling us we had to provide more evidence of her talking to me, and there was a problem on her birth certificate with her moms name, the translation service did not translate the name correction.
I went into the embassy to talk to the consular, to get clarification on the relationship evidence. I was very calm, just wanted to know what we needed to bring. He talked to me, and said I need to see that she is contacting you, I showed him the emails, which he had not seen because the thai girl did not give them to him, the problem with those, was that I had printed them all at once, so they were on consecutive pages. Guess he wanted me to kill a few more trees. I asked about the chat logs, he looked at them, and said I can't see what you are talking about. I have to see the conversation. Then he told me my file looked great, just need to bring back what he needed. I asked about the phone logs, and he explained it is always me calling her, so I explained to him that she would call me, and then hang up before we got charged and then I would call her back.
I spent the weekend extracting our 2500 text messages from my phone and brought those in, along with my 700 missed calls from my phone, of when she would call and hang up, a new print out of individual emails each on their own page, and msn chats with nothing blocked out. We got an affidavit from her mom stating that her name was never changed, and had the birth certificate translated properly.
On Monday Feb 2nd, she went in and have the documents to the thai staff, and then waited for 3 hours, they came back out gave her a 3x5 card that said come back Feb 5th and pick up your passport with VISA in it.
It was not a bad experience, I just kind of thought the hoops we had to jump through were unnecessary, the Consular was nice, although my Fiancee said he was intimidating.
