Friendly overall, but quite daunting when things don't work quite right.
Our interview was at 1pm and we made sure to only bring the allowed items. Security was friendly yet serious. Got whisked up to the 20th floor where we waited about 20 minutes and then got called up to the first window. A very friendly lady took our papers and told us to sit down.
After 1 hour and 20 minutes we got called up to the second window. The first task was to get my fingerprints read. That didn't go so well - it's super finicky and after about 4 tries and she got quite annoyed!
After that, she asked when we met, where we met, when we got engaged and when we plan to marry. Also asked if I'd met his parents etc. My fiance's parents wrote us a very touching letter of support that she glanced at. She also asked for photos and you could tell she enjoyed this part of her job.
Got approved and picked up the visa at 12:30 the next day.
Couple of pointers:
Eat well before going up. No food or drinks are allowed.
The amount of people in the room does not dictate how long you wait: We were 3 people and it took well over an hour for us to be called up.
There's no loo in the waiting room area. You go thru various security checks to go down to the 2nd floor and back up again, and risk not being back by the time they call your name.
You can leave your cellphone at the cigar shop across the road. It costs $1 and he puts it in a ziplock bag behind the counter.
Bring something to read. There's nothing there.
