Hayz's interview was on Sept. 10th at 11am. When we arrived I stayed across the street from the Embassy at a cafe while he attended the interview. There were 3 other people ahead of him and all 3 were denied their visa's. By the time the 3rd person came out of his interview upset Hayz just knew his interview wasn't going to go well.
Hayz was called back to the office and met a polite consulate. The gentleman introduced himself and told Hayz not to worry about what had previously gone on with the other people and their visa's. Hayz was asked if he wanted a translator and he told them know. He speaks perfect English so there was no need for one. The actual interview didnt take very long. The consulate asked him just a couple of questions how we had met and when was the last time he seen me. Someone had told Hayz that he didnt need to tell the consulate I was there. I told Hayz if asked that he should lie and to tell them the truth. Well Hayz said when the consulate asked the question in stead of looking at him he had just picked up a piece of paper. It made Hayz wonder if they had ran my passport to see if I had entered Lebanon. So he was honest and said "she is currently here. She arrived on Monday." The consulate responded "oh really, so she came here for the interview?". Hayz said "yes, if not she would have been a mess of nerves and would have been stressed to un-human limits and she wanted to bring the aff of support and the rest of the documents." To which they both had a nice laugh. The consulate looked over his papers from his medical appointment. Took a few of the docs he had brought, aff of support, family record and translation, civil record and translation and letter from my emp. He didnt take his birth cert or translation. Didnt look at any new pics. Didnt look at any new emails, IM's, text, phone records or anything. About half way through the interview another guy entered the room and introduced himself and some type of US security officer (Hayz couldn't remember his "title"). He wanted to know if the person who translated his papers. Hayz told him who and then he gave him his email address and told him that if she contacted him after the interview for a "tip" that we needed to let him know. That they are trying to crack down on people requesting large sums of money for "getting" someone a visa. Hayz started laughing and said "that wont happen, Amanda is to cheap when it comes to other people and wont give someone a cent for doing nothing". They all had a nice laugh, again thanks to me....
All in all the interview only lasted about 15 - 20 minutes. The consulate immediately approved him for his visa. Hayz received an orange stub like one from a raffle ticket. The other part went with his visa. Two days later we went back to the Embassy and received the visa.
