Interview 03/31/25 @ 8:30am
We got to the Consulate around 8:10-8:15. They allowed my husband (applicant) in at 8:20.
The forms they asked from him when he was first called up were:
• Passport
• ?Passport Photos
• ?Birth Certificate
• ?Marriage License
• ?Police Certificate
• ?Name Changes (Petitioner’s Name Changes)
2nd time he was called he was asked for biometrics
He waited a good amount of time for the interview itself and was called up to the window. He wasn’t asked any documents. Only these questions:
• Name of Spouse
• ?What Does Spouse do for work
• ?What Does Spouse Study at School
• ?How did you two first meet
• ?When did you meet in person
• ?Have you lived anywhere else aside from Canada
• ?Have you had trouble getting through the Border
His interview was 5-10 minutes and was verbally approved. As of right now, the status shows “Issued” on the CEAC website. The whole process took about 2 Hours total.
Notes:
• I’ve had my name changed a few times hence why they asked for name change documents
• ?I am a full-time student who does not currently work. I relied on the household sponsor’s finance. I am a Dependent who has never filed taxes since I have never been employed yet. They did not ask for the household’s tax documents at all.
• ?My husband previously lived the U.S. as a kid. His mother applied for a K-1 Visa and came into the states with her under a K-2 Visa. His mother later divorced and was forced to move back to Canada under the age of 18. He never filed for I-407 (Abandonment of PR Status) until 4 years later as he never knew he had to do that.
• ?He was taken to secondary once because his I-407 was being processed as he was flying out to the U.S. to see me. He showed proof that he filed and sent the I-407 by showing the tracking and was allowed through.
Notes are for those who may have face a similar situation and are worried that they’ll have problems with being issued a Visa because of it. They only care that the marriage is genuine and you’re going through the process legally. The interviewer was kind according to my husband. He laughed hearing our story on how we met for the first time and was given the verbal approval fairly easily.
