I recently had my n400 interview at the Chicago office. I went up to the third floor, signed in at the window and sat down in the waiting area with my husband. We arrived around 20 minutes early and waited around 40 minutes total. When the USCIS officer called me up my husband came with me. She politely asked who he was, and asked him to please take a seat we won’t be long. He was fine with that, he just wanted the officer to know he attended with me.
The interview was straightforward. We started with the civics questions and moved onto reviewing my application. The officer didn’t need any of my documents, it was clear she had reviewed the ones I uploaded and she asked questions relating to those too. I had a few answers on the forms to update. At the end I was recommended for approval and was told I will receive an oath ceremony appointment in the mail and an update on the website soon.
Overall smooth and calm process. The officer was professional, polite, and made me feel comfortable. I am excited to be a citizen of the country my husband and child were born in!
