My appointment was at 10:30 AM on October 31st in Montreal and I arrived at 10, I was the only one at the entrance and the security guards were very polite. Placed my items in the bins to have them go through a scanner similar to what airports hav, after that I was asked to place my watch, phone and headphones in the locker and got my purse and folder back. I was given a number with a small list of the papers I needed to get ready & took the elevator to the first floor. Once there I sat in the waiting room, only one other person was there at the time.It took about 5 minutes or so before I was called to the first window.
From there I was asked to provide :
- Passport
- 2 Passport Photos
- Birth certificate
- Affidavit of support (I-134)
- My fiancé's Tax returns for 2023
- Proof of petitioner's residence
- RCMP Background Check
She told me to sit back down in the waiting room to look if they had received my medical exam, since she couldn't find it. After a few minutes I was called back to the same window, she told me they received my vaccines but not the medical but it wouldn't cause any issues with my interview and to go back once again to the waiting room. At that point I was even more nervous than I already was but she was very nice about it. Some time later I was called to another window to have my fingerprints taken, sat back down afterwards and waited to be called for the interview. I was called one more time for my interview. The officer asked me how I was doing, I said I was alright but a bit nervous. He told me it was gonna be a piece of cake for me. He made me lift my right hand as he read me the oath and then took my fingerprints before beginning to ask me some questions such as:
- Have you read the pamphlet on domestic violence?
-How did you meet?
- How long have you known eachother for?
- What does your fiancé do for work?
- Fiancé's address?
- Have you been to the US?
- How often do you go to the US?
- When was the last time you were together?
- Have you had previous marriages?
- When did you do your medical exam? (They hadn't receive it yet which is why he asked & it had been done on the 22)
He was very friendly and had a good conversation with me throughout the questions, he didn't ask for any proof of our relationship to my surprise. It was quite simple. He said everything was good and more than enough to approve the visa, the only thing missing are my medical exam results. He gave me a sheet with the information on how to track my visa & the 221g sheet. I was assured not to worry about the 221g & that as soon as they receive my medical exam, tha it is very common & that he will issue the visa. He kept my passport. I was very relieved by his reassurance and confirmation, thanked him since we had been waiting 2 years to get to this point. He once again told me everything was good "you're at the finish line" & that once it's issued I should receive the visa within 6 days.
I will update this review once my case changes & receive my visa with the timeline.
