Review Topic: Walk-in Filing

I walked in today to the Indianapolis office after receiving a letter in the mail inviting me to get my biometrics done. The appointment was originally scheduled for 10/01/2008 but I wanted to try to save some time and get the ball rolling early, so I walked in to see if they had time to see me (about 16 days before my original appointment date).
I came on a Monday, 8 AM, there were about 4-5 people there waiting (not busy at all! did I just get lucky?). I checked in with the officer who took my appointment letter said she was going to ask them if they had time to see me and gave me a sheet to fill out and told me they were going to call my name. The sheet contained basic information, SS#, height, weight, address, and receipt numbers for my cases (make sure you have those! They are on the appointment letter but she the officer took mine -so I was glad that I also had the NOA's on hand). Also, bring a pen.
They called my name about 20 mins after I got the sheet, they took me to the biometrics section, took my fingerprints, took a picture, gave me a brief satisfaction survey to fill out and send me on my way. I was out the door about 30-35 mins after arriving.
Walk in biometrics done. Saved me about 16 days of waiting to go. I'm not sure if this speeds up the overall process but I figured it can't hurt. AND, I got to go in when it works for me. And they were really nice and fast.
