Let's start by saying it's easy to reach. I went by car, but I saw there's a metro/train station very close by. Parking was a bit more iffy for me as a foreigner (Dutch) as the parking meter didn't accept my cards and the other services/apps wouldn't work on my phone either. So I had to pray I wouldn't get towed. My fiancé mentioned there's a fenced parking area too, but I parked on the side of the street.
You first go through security after getting your number from the check in desk. This is easy, they're nice. If you have a phone, you can leave it there and you get a receipt or something. I left mine in the car because I didn't know. You then walk to a different building and walk to the back of it for the immigrant visas. Very smooth and simple!
For the whole process, you first get called to a check-in desk. We had 3 check-in desks open and 1 interview desks. It took me about an hour to get called to the check-in desk. You give them your documents, do your fingerprints, and they double check everything. You get your originals back after the interview. Small note: I didn't need to get my birth certificate and criminal record(VOG) translated because the Dutch instances have small translations listed. Good to know and to save money!
You then go to sit back down for the interview desk to call you. Like I mentioned, we only had 1 open. He did about 3-4 an hour. There were a LOT of people in front of me, so I didn't get called until 12:15. I got there at 8:20. So eat something filling before you go, because I didn't and I felt like I was starving at the end haha.
There's 2 water fountains and bathrooms as well, so you don't have to worry about that.
The interview itself was less than 5 minutes. He asked me where we met, when we met, when we started dating and what I wanted to do work-wise when I got to the US. I asked if he needed my evidence I brought for the relationship, he mentioned it wasn't necessary because the proof I provided with the 129f was enough, we looked cute and happy according to him. The man was VERY nice. He then mentioned it would take probably until monday (it was friday) for my status to change, but it was approved and my documents + passport would be mailed in like a week. And that was that, you leave and it's done!
I'm giving them a 5 because it wasn't necessarily a bad experience, they were just understaffed. Bring a book, just incase the wait is long. Walls get boring after a while haha.
