Bangkok, Thailand Review on July 27, 2024:

Review Topic: General Review

My wife had her interview for CR1 on July 26, 2024 in Bangkok. Her interview was scheduled for 10:00 and she wanted to be a little earlier than recommended so she arrived at 9:30. Staff outside checked for her appointment confirmation, DS-260 confirmation and since she is Burmese they did ask for a document required in Burma called "Additional Document" which I am glad I researched and found this as a requirement. Outside staff was very polite. While I was waiting for her a very impatient man came to the front door demanding his passport because his Thai visa was expiring soon. He was belligerent and used a lot of choice words and the staff remained calm, tried to assure him he could enter after the lunch break, and politely asked him to wait on the sidewalk away from the doors.

Inside my wife said the security staff were a bit rude, but that is her only negative comment. She said everyone past security went above and beyond helping people. There were only 10 people waiting for family based visas and my wife said the staff took as much time as needed to help each applicant ensure they had all the necessary paperwork, even spending up to an hour with one family. She said the staff were all super polite and helpful. Another girl from Myanmar interviewing for K1 didn't realize she needed her original birth certificate, and had to leave her appointment. Almost 1 1/2 hours later, her brother brought it to her and they allowed her back in to interview. Again, super polite and seemingly doing everything possible to ensure each applicant got the attention they deserved.

Due to the staff helping everyone my wife didn't get to speak with the Consular Officer until after 1pm (12-1 lunch break in between), but she said the officer was also incredibly polite and she said she even joked with him a bit (not recommending humor, but when asked the last time I visited, she said "my husband is actually here outside the embassy". When he replied "REally", my wife said "Yes and he said he needs a chair" at which the officer laughed.)

End result was approval and my wife gives the entire experience 9 out of 10 stars.
