1. Max 15mins before appointment they will let u in.
2. Wait in line and you’ll have to tell the guard why you’re there and what time your appointment is. You’ll have to give them your passport to confirm and they will let u in. They will check your bag and will tell you to walk straightforward and to turn
3. Once cleared, you will walk inside (one person at the time tho) and where you will put your belongings in a tray that will be x-rayed, and you will have to go through a metal detector (airport like). You won’t be able to bring your purse or bookbag with you, they will hold it for u and give you a note to pick it up later. I brought an accordion map and they didnt say anything about that.
4. Once let into the lobby, you have to go to window 5 (just walk straightforward) to check in. They will ask for your passport and your appointment hour. They will give you a ticket (k1 = immigrant), and you’ll have to wait for your turn.
5. When its your turn, at window x someone will handle your case. This is not the "interview", this person is responsible for checking the documents. This person can speak dutch and/or french. You will have to give this person all the required docus (civil + financial docus).
- They ask for passport, DS160, 1 passport photo, original + copy of birth certificate, police record, medical envelope, i-134 and in my case a letter of intent from my fiance as the petition approval was more then four months ago. (They also ask for an original divorce degree if you or your fiance have ever been married before)
- Lastly, they will take your fingerprints.
6. They will ask you to wait again in the waiting room until your number will be called by the Consular Officer. This person will give the interview and will only speak english.
7. First, they make you swear an oath to tell the truth and nothing but the truth and will ask you to sign with your fingerprints.
8. The questions i got asked were:
- what my wedding plans are?
- How did we meet? When did we meet?
- When was the first time we sa w eachother?
- When was the last time we sa w eachother? And who went to see who?
- How many times he came to belgium?
- What does he do for a living?
9. In the end, the Consular Officer will say you’re approved (or not).

I waited 1h30 before going to the first window. It took about 10-15mins to give all docus. After that i waited another 40mins to get seen by the consular officer. The interview itself lasted 5mins.
