We had a good experience in Montreal. The building was not as easy to find as we thought it would be, so we were glad that we located it the day before our interview. There was no sign on the outside of the building. We found it only by the street number by the door.

We lined up early outside of the building on the morning of our appointment. Eventually, we were called inside based on our interview times. After passing through security, the two of us were allowed up the elevator whenever two other people came out. We arrived in a waiting room filled with 30 or 40 people. The whole process took several hours. I was glad that I had eaten breakfast and had coffee before our 8:15 appointment! There were restrooms and a water fountain available.

After much waiting, we were called up to a window at a counter. A gentleman reviewed some of our documents, address, etc. Then we sat back down to wait some more. Eventually, we were called to another window with a counter, around the corner out of sight from the people waiting. The interview took about 15 minutes. The questions were pretty much as expected. We were asked about our previous visits to the States, where we would be living, etc.

In our case, we needed to provide one more financial document. We were able to do that, but it would have been nice if we had been told ahead of time. (We had not hired a lawyer. A lawyer would have known that we needed it.) Our immigration visa was denied at our interview appointment. We were allowed to keep our passports to submit with the required documentation.

Upon returning to our home province, we immediately rushed off the required form and passports. It took about six weeks from the date they received them until we got our immigration visa in our passports delivered back to us so we could actually immigrate.
