We had a pleasant experience overall with the consulate. My husband had his interview on December 22nd, 2023. The interview went well and the officer was polite and asked my husband a few questions before letting him know he would put our case into administrative processing. We received a 221G white slip and were asked to send his passport in. My husband sent his passport the next day, on December 23rd, and it was received on December 27th. I emailed the consulate on January 8th, 2024, inquiring about the case status, and on January 22nd, I received a response stating our case was "pending final review by a consular officer."
By chance, I checked the visa status on January 30th, and the visa had been issued! On Feb 1st, my husband received his passport with the visa stamped in it, crossed the border the same day, and is currently on his way to me in Nevada!!
** I will say this has been a slightly stressful experience for us both. My husband was not allowed to visit the US because the visa application was being processed, and now he has his IR1 visa. It was tough at first with only me being able to travel to Canada just so we could be together, but in the end, it really was worth it**
