I had my interview at the consulate in Montreal just a few days ago. The process went smooth and pretty fast. My time was quite early in the morning, and I showed up 5-10 mins prior to the given time. A security officer waved me in to the building and I gave my passport to another and was given 2 number slips. I went through small security and put my phone in a locker. You take the elevator to floor 1 and are put out into a waiting room with chairs to sit in open to the booths you’ll be called to by number. I sat and waited for my number to appear on the screens. I waited around 20 or so minutes before I was called to a booth and was asked for my original marriage certificate, original longform birth certificate, my husband’s (sponsor) tax returns, my police certificate, and my 2 passport photos. The officer then stated my address and my husband’s address in the States and asked if those were correct. He also then asked if our phone numbers were correct. He hung on to my marriage certificate, birth certificate, and husband’s tax returns then gave me a pamphlet on trafficking and DV and told me then to take a seat again and wait for my number to be called for the interview. I waited for around 40-50 minutes before being called to a different booth and was asked to take an oath of truth, then was asked a few questions about where my husband works and what he does for work, how and when we met, what our first date was, if I’ve ever committed a crime, if I’ve ever lived anywhere outside of Canada, if I have travelled anywhere besides the United States and Canada in the last 5 years, what my longest stay was in the U.S. and if I have ever stayed too long. The lady then said my visa was approved and I’d get it in my passport that they’d send back within a week or two. It took 2 business days for the passport to arrive at my house. Very fast and easy process to end a very slow process of waiting.
