Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Background info:
* K1 + K2
* Petitioner never married prior. Beneficiary was married with child previously.
* Our ages are about 2 years apart.
* No Dam Hoi engagement.
* We submitted i129f after being in person one time. Although we had been talking online for 2 years by then.
* Since submitting the i129f the petitioner went to Vietnam an additional 4 visits.
Interview:
We went to the embassy at 6:30am. They had us line up at 7am near the front door. After going through security to turn in phones we registered for a number. They called us to hand in papers - they collected the i134+tax documents, original birth certs, copy of house registration book, passports, divorce document, and the envelopes from the medical. They kept the copy of passport, the copy of birth certs, the sealed medical contents, i134+tax, and one of the visa photos.
Then we waited to be called again for the interview. Myself, the petitioner, stood at the window with the beneficiary, but the beneficiary answered all questions from the officer. They asked 5 questions:
1. When did you meet (first conversation)?
2. How did you know about each other (connection between friends/family)?
3. What does fiance do for a living?
4. How many times have you met in person?
5. How did the proposal happen?
The officer gave verbal approval and kept the passports.
EDIT: Apparently the officer gave back too many documents to the beneficiary at the interview, so they cannot process the visa yet. Beneficiary was told to return to the embassy with the packet that they should have kept in the first place in order to proceed.
