I got approved at my interview today, November 7th, 2023!
My appointment was at 10:15am, I got there super early but had breakfast at the Second Cup next door. They kindly agreed to hold my bag because I was scared it might be too big. I entered the consulate at 9:45am. The security agent checked off my name off his list and a lady gave me a number, then I went through the "security" and put my phone in one of those small lockers. They said i could keep my keys & wallet. Then, I took the elevator to the 1st floor. (It’s a very small lobby and very well indicated so you can not get lost). As soon as I arrived, I got called at a window for the document check. It took a few minutes, they asked for :
MRV fee payment confirmation
Passport & Photocopy
Birth certificate & photocopy (I also had certified translation since my birth certificate is in french)
Police Clearance (original)
I-134 and supporting evidence. (I brought 1040 from 2022, W2 from 2022, paystubs for the last 3 months, a bank letter & all his deposits within the last year & employment letter.
2 passport style pictures
They never asked to see my DS-160 confirmation, the letter of intent from my fiancé, any evidence of relationship or the US's Petitioner's proof of status or domicile.
I took fingerprints then went back to wait.
Not too long after, I was called to the window and the consular agent was the sweetest and most friendliest person in the whole building. His name is Ben (If you see this, which is unlikely, THANK YOU). He asked to see my ring. Told me I was glowing and that I seemed very happy to be there. He asked :
To tell him about my fiancé (when and how we met)
Where does he live (& if that’s where we would reside)
When is the last time I saw him
How often do we see each other
If I ever overstayed
If I ever was denied entry at the border
If I ever had a criminal record
If it was our first engagement/marriage
If my fiancé ever filed for a K1 before
I’m probably missing some questions because it was very rapid fire and my memory is bad.
He told me my visa was approved as a "marriage gift" from them to me & my fiancé which was very sweet. He also congratulated me many times for my engagement during the interview.
I left at 10:40 which was just 55 minutes after I entered the building! I brought a book but there were so many kids running around, I wouldn’t have been able to focus
