This will be super long but I know how reassuring I found it to read detailed accounts of these! My interview was at 8:30am and I wanted to get there a little early just to account for not being able to find it etc. I arrived at 8am and they ended up letting me straight in even though I was half an hour early.

I was staying over the bridge from the embassy. It was an easy walk and pedestrian friendly, ending on a river walk towards the embassy. I found getting there extremely easy, and since I'd checked street view before getting there it was an easy building to spot and aim towards (with the aid of Google maps of course).

Once I got there it was easy to find the entrance, with signs pointing where to go for visas/interviews. When I got to the line there was a lady walking up and down, and following advice on here I spoke to her and mentioned I was waiting for an immigrant visa, she told me to cut to the front. They checked my DS260 and passport and I cut to the front for the security line too (I had been told to do this).

In the main building there was another line, I went into the right one for all visas as I was a little confused which to go in. At the time I entered both lines were about the same length so it wasn't a huge issue. They checked the same info and added stickers to my passport that directed me where to go (first floor, left and left again).

As soon as I sat down in the waiting area I got called over. The man was very friendly and asked to see originals of all the documents I had produced (birth certificate, passport, marriage documents, police checks) and asked to see the appointment letters/emails I had printed. He took fingerprints and reviewed my case in front of me. He told me Medicals were all okay and he had no need to check any further documents. He also confirmed how long we had been married and changed my IR1 status to CR1.

I sat back down and waited for what felt like forever (I was very anxious about the interview part, so it was painful!) but it was only around a 45 min wait (I got seen at 9am). There was another friendly man who was conducting the interview. For some reason i thought I'd be called into a room but it was just another booth with glass between us. He asked: when/how we met, if we started dating straight away, if the proposal was mutual or one person asked another, and when we last saw each other. He also confirmed that we had met up after our ceremony (conducted online) before we filed (I believe this is a legal requirement of this kind of ceremony). He told me there and then I had been approved and I'd receive my passport in 1-2 weeks. He said it so casually that I started stumbling over my words in shock and thanked him and wished him a nice day haha.

All in all I'd say I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and simple it was. Additionally, I only had good experiences with all the staff, they were super friendly and happy to help!
