My interview happened on April 10th, 2023. I have some good points and some bad points to mention here.

BAD points first:

1- My fiance and I e-mailed them twice (first in november and then last week) to ask if he could accompany me during the interview. Both times they said yes. I printed the e-mails and brought with us. Getting there, the responsible person said he would have to wait outside. I questioned saying we had e-mails saying he could go in with me, then she said that not in a first moment, but they would call him in later. I found that reasonable, since there are some steps before the interview itself happen, so I asked her to guide him to where he was supposed to stay and she did. THEY NEVER CALLED HIM IN OR EXPLAINED ANYTHING TO HIM, and he told me there was a lot of other people in the same situations close to him.

2: That being said, I noticed that the Consulate seems to be understaffed, so everyone gets overwhelmed and their internal comminication tends to break. The person I mentioned above, for instance, was a tiny short girl running all crazy everywhere because she was handling everybody outside by herself. There was a loooot of people and no signs, nothing... Everything on her.

3: Informations in the official website is not very accurate. When I went to do the biometrics, I brought the appointment confirmation page printed, as the website days, but, getting there, what I needed was the DS-160 confirmation page. Had to pay R$30 to print one damn page in order to not lose my appointment. Besides that, the website says that the declaration that days you're free to marry is suposed to be signed in front of the officer, but when I handed my documents, the person was like "why you didn't sign it yet?".............

4: This might be a personal thing, but I think it's worthy to be mentioned. The ac is suuuuuper cold inside. I was wearing warm clothes and still felt cold a lot. So if you get cold easily, bring an extra jacket hahahah

Now the GOOD parts:

1: The whole process on this fase (except for the problems above), since biometrics, was very smooth and felt a lot different from when I tried a tourist visa in 2020, before pandemics. At that time, everything was extremely intimidating, but this time I felt like I was treated with dignity and respect most of the time. Everyone was very nice and the security guy in the interview waiting area was even joking a lot hahahah That helped me to relax.

2: Although I waited a long time before the interview itself happen, when it did it was very quick and easy. The Consul barely looked at me and didn't ask for any additional evidences of anything (I had a giant folder with me though). She asked me to swear I was saying the truth and then did these questions:

- Have you ever been in the USA?
- Have you ever been out of Brasil?
- Any problems with the law?
- When did you meet your fiance and how?
- When did he come to Brasil? (on this question I asked which time she wanted to know and she said the first)
- When is the wedding?
- Did you receive the paper with your rights in case of domestic violence?

Then visa approved!! 😍

3: They took only two days to issue my visa.
