Also, the medical clinic Vita used the wrong paper so we had to go back after our interview to get the proper form filled out. Plus they opened the sealed envelope to check something and then re-closed it (!) which I thought was defeating the point of the sealed envelope ... anyway if you use Vita, pay attention to what they give you.
The interview process itself was less painful than expected. Appointment time was 8 am, we were out by 11.
Be warned: the interview takes place through glass windows (in a room full of people applying for tourist and student visas, etc). Make sure anything you want them to see is flat enough to fit through a slot below the window.
The pre-interview took place in Bulgarian. She seemed quite impressed to see me (the USC) there. Speaking to my husband, she went through many basic questions on the I-130 and G-325 forms that I had sent in 7 months earlier. She wanted to see photos and appeared to enjoy looking at them. She specifically asked to see photos of my husband with my mother.
We waited for another hour until we were called to Window 4, Carolyn. She was quite nice and friendly. She said: \"I have seen your photos so I know your whole story.\" Then asked him: \"So you were in the U.S. for 6 months and that\'s how you met?\" and to me: \"You mother was here visiting?\" And that\'s it. We just had to scramble around to get the mayor\'s certificate and translation, and the correct medical form, which we took to the embassy the next day.
It was all quite pleasant and reasonable. Good luck!!
