My interview appointment was yesterday and also went well! Thanks to all prior Consulate reviews on here, they were very helpful!
Interview time was at 9, I got in line at 8:45.
At the first window outside, I had to present my passport and the DS-260 confirmation page, the passport was handed back to me and I was assigned my waiting number and was told to go to Window 22 after getting through security.
At the Window, I was asked in German for 1 passport photo with name written on back, delivery confirmation and the passport, all of which were kept from there. And I had to wait to be called at the next window.
There, I had to hand my original birth certificate, my original police certificate and my original marriage certificate over and my personal information was confirmed in German (name, dob, place of birth, parents names, previous us visas, confirmed we were using only assets to sponsor), fingerprints were taken, asked when I was planning to enter the US and reminded I had to enter before the medical expires. I was handed a pamphlet with domestic abuse information. I offered updated relationship history (pictures, receipts, boarding passes) and most recent bank statements, but was told to have them ready for the interview at the next and last window. I was explained that if the visa gets approved, my passport would be kept to print the electronic visa page in it, I’d use that to enter at the first US airport and it will get stamped, which will let me travel and work. Green card will be mailed to the wife’s house in the US.
At the actual interview at the next window, I was put under oath, and asked about my previous visits to the US and which visas I used, if I had ever worked in the US and if I had ever been out of status.
I was then asked when our marriage date is, asked if my wife or I had previous marriages (I was not asked to show my wife’s divorce decree), asked if my wife or I had any children, asked if my wife had custody of her children (they are all adults).
I was asked where my wife lives (answer: currently and temporarily with me in Germany, but she has a house in the US that we will be moving to), I was asked if my wife works in Germany.
I was asked who my sponsor is (answer: my wife, we are using only assets to qualify) - at that point I offered updated bank statements, the interviewer took them, but only looked at the very first page that showed the total of only one account (which was more than the required amount, and stored in a US based savings account).
She confirmed that the sponsorship household size, that was it. No original I-864 was asked for.
I then also offered the extra bona fide evidence (from recent vacations and events). I was asked where we went on vacation, the interview flipped through the pages without paying attention to any details of it at all.
Then I was handed all my documents back - the original police certificate, original birth certificate and original marriage certificate. I was told that everything seems to be in order and my visa will be approved. They kept my passport and told me it would be ready in about a week for pickup.
Everyone was very friendly!!
I left the building and was back at my car at 11:15, so it took about 2.5 hours start to finish.
