Bulgaria | Review on July 28, 2008: | SerenityNOW

Filed for a tourist visa for my then-fiance in November 2007, in hopes that my family could actually meet him before we got married. CO was condescending and rude, what I overheard of the interview was: "I find it hard to believe that in six months, you didn't have a chance to meet her family." Well, I guess this guy has been out of the U.S. for too long and has forgotten how big it is - my mother lives 3,000 miles from me and my father 1,700 miles away. Yeah, we were "dating" for six months, but we only got engaged a week before he had to leave the country... we could have just gotten married while he was still in the U.S. but he has kids and I didn't want to keep them apart while we adjusted status ... anyway we tried to be completely honest about bringing him back into the U.S. for a visit - with immense documentation that he had no intention of staying on that visit - and were shot down.
Also - I had to get a certification from the embassy so that I could get married in Bulgaria, and the person I dealt with was also quite condescending to me - almost sneering - "so you want to marry a *Bulgarian*?"
I will update after our interview. I am hoping it will be a more positive review!
