My appointment was at 9:30. Arrived at 9 and was allowed to wait in line. A guy turned up shortly after me with an appointment for 10 and was told to wait for a bit, so don't get there too early. Also when they say no electronics including mobiles, they really do mean it. Several people were sent away to store their phones nearby. There is a place 2 minutes away to store them. I had a couple of water bottles in my bag, I had to take a drink out of each one in front of them.
Once inside I settled down with my book. It is very advisable to take a book or something like that. There were a few papers flying around. As soon as someone was called up and a paper was left it was snatched up almost instantly. I waited about an hour before being called to the first window. That guy checked my forms were all there and put everything in a wallet. I also had to pay the fee at that point. Then I was sent back into the waiting room. Had a fake out when the person with the number below me was called up to the second window, I thought it could be a really quick turn around. Then the numbers started going down. After about 30 minutes I was called up. The next guy actually interviewed me. He asked how my wife and I met, if her parents came to the wedding, if we are planning on doing any ceremony in the states, what I plan on doing over there. It all went pretty well. I was finally out at 11:30
