I had my interview on Monday, 12th of December 2022 with an 8am appointment. Aside the fairly long waiting time to get interviewed, it was an okay experience. I went in around 8:05am and came out around 11:30 am.

The first part of the interview was swift as I went to the window of a Ghanaian lady who took my original documents (Marriage cert, Birth cert, Passport, one U.S sized passport picture and police report). She then asked for financial evidence and proof of relationship. For financial evidence, I submitted Affidavit of support, Tax returns and W2's (all updated) and for proof of relationship, I submitted printed chats from whatsapp and facebook messengers, email exchanges, western union receipts, postal receipts and passport pages of my wife's trips to Ghana. The lady then asked if this was our first marriage; afterwards she told me to have a seat and wait till I'm called for my interview.

After waiting for ages, my name was called to window 6 where the consular officer greeted me with a big smile. Afterwards, I took my oath and the interview began right after. My questions were as follows:

1. Who petitioned for you?
2. How did you and your wife meet ?
3. When did she immigrate to the states?
4. And you continued dating?
5. When did you get married ?
6. What is your wife’s occupation ?
7. How long has she been working there ?
8. Have you been refused a tourist visa before?
9. Was your son born on thanksgiving day?
10. Have you met your son before?
11. Does your wife live alone ?
13. Do you have any criminal record ?
13. Have you ever lived outside Ghana for more than 6months?

After the first 5 questions she handed me a sheet of paper that documented American laws against domestic violence and after the last she handed me a piece of white paper and told me to pick up my visa following the instructions on it. I thanked her profusely and left.

I registered for my visa pick up right when I left the premises on the embassy. It got issued the very next day, the 13th of December and on Wednesday the 14th, I had an email notification that DHL had picked it up from the embassy. I expected an email to pick it up from DHL Kumasi on Thursday but it never came; so on Friday, I called their office and after taking my passport number, it was confirmed that it was in!

I thank God immensely for granting us the patience to close on this very stressful chapter with success. My tip for the interview is to know your case to perfection so you don't get hit with any surprises at your interview. Every case is individual even though some questions may be common, but knowing your case to perfection helps a lot!

A big thanks to visajourney and the contributing members, I took a lot of tips here and it helped in dealing with the wait and the interview alike.
