After being DQ'd end of September, I had my interview on November 16, 2022
I arrived about 30 min early and waited in line - turns out this was a mistake as the line was very long and moved very slowly. 5 minutes before I was going to be late, I was eventually invited to jump the line and go straight to the desk as I was here for an immigrant visa. This is poorly indicated and could be improved as I'm sure a lot of people just stay in line and end up being late, which must cause a lot of unnecessary stress before the interview.
Directions to the relevant desk were clear and I was quickly called up to present my documents. The officer was pleasant, however I was surprised to find out that the original police records (UK and France) I brought along were in fact, copies. That was my mistake, driven mainly by the fact that the French certificate is no longer printed on secured paper so any copy looks like the original. Other documents were fine.
The second part of the interview (interview itself) went well, with simple questions: where did you meet, what were you doing there, did your wife follow you in the UK when you came back from the states, where is she now, where did you get married and what are you going to do there.
Unfortunately I was served with the green slip (form 221(g) inviting me to submit the original police certificates. The officer kept my passport.
Following the interview, I had the original documents mailed from France with priority/tracked the day of the interview. Unfortunately what followed was Royal Mail losing the letter with the originals for 3 weeks and being unable to tell me where it was or give me an indicative delivery date. I ended up requesting new originals from the French and UK police a week after the interview, which took over a week to arrive due to Royal Mail again (strikes didn't help). I eventually sent the originals by courier in early December. As of December 11, 2022, I'm still waiting for my visa to be issued and CEAC status still shows up as refused.
