Not a bad experience at all. DS-260 holders can go straight to the front of the queue as we're immigration. Through airport style security, ensure your phone is switched on, they'll ask you to open any app to ensure it's a real phone. If you have drinks, they'll ask you to take a sip before passing you through. Go through the extremely heavy doors, don't be afraid to ask for help, they are very heavy! Walk through the courtyard up to the reception centre. At this point you can go through the U.S citizen side of the queue, reception staff are friendly. You'll get your processing number stuck to the front of the DS-260. From the reception desk, it's up the elevator to the first floor. As you disembark the elevator, take a left and walk down to the end of the building and take a left again. Go past the 2 interview booths on the left and take a seat in the waiting area. Depending on the time, you won't wait long. Initially you'll get called up to the window to show your original civil docs. This takes around 5 mins. Don't expect much conversation from the staff member, they're busy scrutinising your documents so don't be offended if you don't get much chat from them. You'll then be asked to take a seat again. Within 20 mins i was called up and asked to confirm where i met my wife, how was i related to my JS, and that was it. As others have said, the hard work is done at the NVC stage, so long as you remember the civil docs, the visit to the embassy is a mere formality. Nothing to stress about at all.
