Our appointment was at 7:45am and we were allowed to enter the embassy at 7:30. We both showed our passports, and my husband was allowed in. Went to the second floor - we were maybe 5th or 6th in line. I showed them the appointment letter, gave them my photos and was given a yellow piece of paper telling me the order I should submit the paperwork. The husband and I sat on some chairs and waited for my name to be called. I was called 4 times: First to hand in the civil documents and the I-864. We spoke to a woman, and she asked my husband if he worked in Korea. She then asked if we had set up a joint sponsor as foreign income does not count and the CO would probably request a joint sponsor. We replied we were using assets and she asked us to hand in the bank statements (we gave the most recent bank statements from my husband’s US bank accounts). Second time, I was called as they forgot to give me the DV pamphlet. Third time: A woman scanned my fingerprints. Finally, we were called up for the interview and spoke to a man. He asked me if I read the DV pamphlet. My husband and I both took the oath and were asked the following questions:
Q: When did you meet? (beneficiary answered)
Q: When did you get married? (beneficiary answered)
Q: When did you start dating? (beneficiary answered, petitioner answered the follow up question)
Q: How long have you lived in Korea? (we both answered this)
Q: Have you lived in any other countries other than Korea or South Africa for more than 1 year? (beneficiary)
Q: Have you traveled to any other countries in the last 6 months? (beneficiary)
Q: Where are you going to live in the US? (petitioner answered)
Q: When are you going to move to the US, Mr. Redro? (petitioner)
Do you have proof? - we provided proof- He looked at the proof but did not take it.
The CO asked a few follow up questions and my husband (the petitioner) answered.
We were told the visa was approved and it should be available in 2 business days.
He then handed back all the documents we submitted.
Everything happened on the 2nd floor, and we left the embassy around 9:00am.
They appeared to be going in order, so we knew when to expect my name to be called.
It was really busy on the 2nd floor and there weren’t enough seats, so some applicants were standing.
I’m not sure if there were two interviewers or just one. Things happened really quickly so I wasn’t paying attention to the people at the windows. I was called up to two of the three windows and saw three different people during the appointment.
When I got home, I checked the CEAC status, and I was in administrative processing. The visa changed to “Issued†August on 23 around noon.
