I’m writing this review because I found reading through all previous UK consulate reviews so helpful. It helped me feel much more comfortable knowing what to expect prior to my interview.

Interview: Monday 9 May 2022 at 9.30am
Medical: Friday 6 May 2022

I arrived at 8.30am to scout out the area. There were 2 long queues outside the South Pavilion entrance: 1) check in desk, 2) security queue. I heard the lady at the check in desk turn someone away as they were too early for their appointment so I went to grab a coffee.

When I returned 30mins later, the security line had gotten even longer. I checked in at the kiosk at 9am (providing my DS-260 confirmation and passport). I was told that as I was immigration, I should skip the security queue and tell the security man that I’m Immigration.

As many people have already mentioned, they ask you to unlock your phone and open an app. You then go through airport style security where they also ask you to take a sip of your water.

I then walked straight through a courtyard towards another building where there was another queue. At this point, several other reviews had mentioned they could skip the queue (/use the US citizen queue). I wasn’t told to skip this queue so I waited but it was relatively short compared to the front entrance (took me about 10mins).

Once at the desk, I was given a number and told to go to the first floor, turn left and left again and wait by counters 20 and 21. Again, the previous reviews prepared me to skip passed the first busy waiting area towards the Immigration counters.

I ended up sitting down in the waiting area at 9.15am for my 9.30am interview.

I was called to the first desk at exactly 9.30am. The first thing he did was ask me if I had been married almost 2 years. I said no, it had been just over 1 year (not sure if this was a trick question)

Next he asked for the following:
-DS-260 confirmation
-Passport
-Courier confirmation
-1 passport photo
-Birth certificate
-Marriage certificate
-Police records (for the 2 countries I’ve lived in)

He then took my fingerprints and then asked me
-Is this my only marriage
-Have I ever changed my name
-Have I ever served in the military
-When will I be flying to the US (to move)

He asked me if I had done my medical. I told him I only had it the Friday before (1 business day) and he said it could take them some days to send it over the embassy.

He checked my sponsors financial docs on his screen and said that he had everything he needed.

He gave me a leaflet to read on domestic violence and asked me to sit down and wait to be called again. This took in total about 5mins.

About 15mins later, I was called to a different window and was asked to scan my fingerprints again and take an oath. I was then asked:
-How did you and your husband meet?
-Who proposed to who? When?
-When did you get married?
-When do you plan to move?
-Where will you move to? Have you been to that city before?

He gave me a 211g and said I was all good pending my medical results (which could take 5 days).

I actually ended up keeping my passport as I need to travel (not to the US) in 2 weeks so he let me keep it just in case but added the passport was outstanding to my 211g. He said that once I’m back from my travels, I can courier my passport to the embassy (I received instructions via email later that day) and by then they should have received the medical. Once they have both items, it should take 5-10 business days to get my passport (with visa) back.

I was done by 10am.
