My interview was at 9.30am in the morning. There was a queue at security but it processed pretty fast, I had to leave my handbag with the guard and just take my documentation through with me. Most of the queue were non-immigrant visa applications so I had the immigration counter window all to myself.
Once inside it took about 15 minutes before someone came over with my file. The lady went through my file checking that I had filled in all the forms, there was another person watching her and it seemed like she was in training.
There was some problems with getting my fingerprints done, it took several attempts before it worked. There were also problems with my passport photo, the photos I'd had taken in the USA weren't good enough as they were too far away, luckily I had some that I'd made myself to take to the medical etc so those were used instead.
I was asked for my sons birth certificate, even though he was not travelling with me, I didn't have that on me so that has to be sent in before my visa can be finalised.
After the forms were all checked I waited about 5 minutes to be called up to another window. The woman there went through my forms and asked me a few questions as she did so:
- when did I get married
- where abouts in the USA was the town my husband lived
- was I going to be living there too
- how long had we known each other
- how often had we met
- why wasn't my son going
- who would care for him when I moved
- did I intend for him to move to the USA at a later date
- did I have a job in the USA
- did I plan to work when I moved
- when was I planning to move
She had me swear the oath and sign the form and then gave me a checklist which stated I needed to send in the birth certificate. Then she said I was all done, make sure that I travelled before the 6 months was up and good luck. 
All in all it was pretty painless, the questions were easy to answer and it didn't feel like an interrogation, more like conversation.
I was finished within 45 minutes.
