I had my interview at 9am today at the US London Embassy. It was a quick 10 minute walk from the Travellodge in Vauxhall for anyone who is looking to stay near the embassy. I had a bit of time to walk along the Thames and enjoy the morning views!

My experience is as described as many others before me in getting into the embassy. Very swift, organised and with directions from Embassy workers.

I waited about 10 minutes for my number to be called, I had my original documents checked at the booth:

- birth certificate
- husbands divorce certificate
- police certificate
- passport
- x1 US passport photo of me

Questions:
- when do you plan on going to the US?
- any other marriages?

I asked the agent if she would like copies but she said it was not needed. Everything is digital now. She told me my medical had been received, took my finger prints. She was super friendly and said I was very organised! To which I replied, I have to be! Considering all of the documents that you end up bringing.

I was surprised she didn't ask for any financial documents, we had submitted a tax return 2020 along with 1099s, extension slip and 1040 form. Everything seem to check out, which was a great relief.

Waited another 10 minutes for the next booth where the ‘interview’ would took place:

- clarification on my maiden and married name, and also my work alias
- where did you meet?
- when did you start dating?
- where did you get married?

Overall the questions were more like a conversation and the agent was so friendly and chatty. After about 5-10 minutes of this, she said I was approved and gave me an envelope with my passport 😂 then she quickly apologised and took it back saying she wasn’t meant to do that. She said I should expect to have my passport back within the next week.

I was in at 8:45am and came out at 9:30am. The whole experience was better than I had imagined, I am grateful for the friendly Embassy staff who all made the process so much more enjoyable than nerve-racking.
