Hello everyone
My K1 visa interview date was for August 24th, I'd like to start with how longgg and hard this process was due to the pandemic but in the end our patience was rewarded and it's making things feel even more sweeter.
My appointment was for 8:30 am I brought with me literally everything I could think of, I arrived at the security gate at 6:30 am ( wouldn't recommend arriving that early, an hour or less prior to the appointment time is more than fine). they let me in at 8:00, before entering through security they checked for my appointment letter then told me to make my way to the embassy gate.
A lady was checking if our photos were good enough as well as our interview letters, then we were told to wait in line and went in one by one.
Oh also an important detail ( DO NOT bring your significant other with you because due to the pandemic they won't let them in. I saw someone's partner being told to wait outside until he's done with the interview).
( Dress code ) I was told by a lot of people to wear a suit which I did but apparently I was the only one wearing a suit and I felt stupid lmao I'm saying this just in case you feel obligated to be all dressed up, you don't need to, just look presentable.
So I made my way inside the room where they conduct interviews and I took my number and waited for my number to be called.
First step is they call for your number to check your papers, they checked my medical exam file and photos and interview letter and weirdly enough my military certificate and ofc my passport and asked me when was the last time I saw my fiancee and where we met, then told me to be seated and wait for my number to be called again.
Second step: they call your number for the actual interview. the officer was a young guy and asked me whether I'd want my interview conducted in English or Arabic, I said English and he joked with me about his Arabic a little, he was very nice and was trying to lighten up the mood cause he saw that I was nervous ( I COULDN'T SLEEP AT ALL WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ).
Then he asked if my fiancee spoke Arabic.
Asked how long we've known each other for and where we met,
Asked when was the last time we've seen each other and why wasn't it any sooner ( spoiler alert there was a pandemic and her work is extremely strict about letting their employees travel abroad).
Asked if I knew what to expect when I arrive in the US
Asked if I ever traveled outside of Egypt
Asked if I knew what I wanted to do job wise when I get to the US
Asked about where she's from and what she does for a living.
And he said that's it everything looks good CONGRATULATIONS you're going to the US tell your fiancee!
Handed me a piece of paper saying congrats etc.. and as I was walking outside of the room I hear my name being called on the speakers and to come back.
I was like UH OH WHAT'S GOING ON, I come back and he says ( Sorry there's something I'm going to need you to do first)..
He handed me my passport and a piece of paper with some questions on it called " supplemental questions for visa applicants ". it had questions similar to the DS-160.
He told me not to worry this is just a routine requirement and to make a word file and send it to their email along with my passport scan and they will respond within 3 weeks to a month and to be fair they did! 28 days later it was finalized and I was asked to send my passport and I'm currently waiting for my visa to be issued.
Sorry for the long review but I just wanted to let people know just in case they get that requirement don't worry about it at all. the way I saw it is that I submitted my DS-160 around February 2020 and there was a year and a half gap and they just wanted to make sure that everything was still good.
So all in all this was a nerve wrecking but smooth experience and they were all very nice.
Good luck to everyone else!
