The entrance/security building is very well signposted. Go to the South Pavilion Consular Services entrance and there’s a window on the right hand side as you look at the building. This is where you book in with your passport and interview confirmation.
Walk along the security entrance and show your documents which are now signed and go through security. Then out of the security building and up a small external walk way (surrounded by walls, so it’s still part of the embassy) and go to reception.
Here they took my interview confirmation and passport and stuck a number to it. Not My DS-160 confirmation. I still have that.
The elevators are to the right of reception, at the back (clearly visible). Take the elevator to floor one. The elevators open and you look out over a waiting room. Turn left and walk to the end of that room and turn left again. Walk down and this is our interview area. Sit in front of the windows you’re assigned in the waiting area. (It’ll make sense when you see it)
The screens will tell you when you need to go up to your allotted window.
The first window is where you’re asked to hand over documents. Passport, Birth cirtificate, Acro, affidavit of support & supporting documents, Letter of intent from American fiancé/e and in my case, divorce certificate. Finger prints are scanned too. You then go back and sit down. (I wasn't given my medical documents as my Medical was only 3 working days previous, not the 5 that are recommended).
After a short wait, you’re called to another window and have your interview after a quick rescan of your fingerprints and swearing that everything you have and say is the truth. It’s so casual.
The guy joked about how big our petition was and I laughed about my Fiancée being a lawyer and thorough. It was 420 pages...
He asked;
how long we’ve known each other
when we met in person
has she been to the U.K.
what our wedding plans were (we're planning on two weddings... one small when I arrive and one larger one when the travel bans are easier to navigate).
I made a 2 dresses joke and he thought that was brilliant. He also asked when I planned on going to the States. He handed me back a few documents from Window one - Birth Certificate, Divorce Certificate and ACRO. He also handed me a green piece of paper that says my visa has been refused, pending the submission of additional evidence (please refer to the document list below) - with Medical Examination Results checked.
Then he said ‘well this all looks in order. Once we get your medical stuff, you should have your visa in one to two weeks’.
Then I thanked him and skipped out of there like a happy school kid.
