London, United Kingdom | Review on August 3, 2021: | DBM+2
Rating: | Review Topic: IR-5 Visa
Stayed at the Travelodge and got an Uber to the embassy as it was raining and there is so much building work, it's tricky walking there.
Started queuing and realised we were in the wrong one as we just did the sheep thing and followed the crowd 🙄. Luckily the Visa queue was very short, so we showed our interview letter to the guard and then went through security. Once through you are directed into a large waiting room. There are desks and windows on one side and all the chairs are in the middle. No vending machines so take a drink.
You are given a number and when this flashes up on the screen you go to the corresponding desk. The guy we saw was British and he did our fingerprints and we had to hand over all our documents plus our daughters latest tax return. (This is significant as due to the immigration delays, the one on our file was too old, so make sure you get the latest one before the interview).
We then sat back down and had to wait to be called forward again.
It's friendly in there with people chatting about why they are there and the delays and dramas etc 😅
Got called to another window and seen by a very lovely lady. She asked us what we were planning on doing in the US and who was sponsoring us. Did our fingerprints again and we were told to remove our masks. She told us all she looks for on the medical is the letter B, which tells her there are no medical concerns.
It was all over in about ten minutes.
She told us that she was approving our residency but to check with border control on whether we could go back and forth before the visa expired.
We had flights booked for July (was for a holiday)..but need to go back to finalise house sale and we have removals booked for 13 September.
