A pretty smooth experience, although the waiting times certainly do test your patience. Arrived outside embassy at 9.20am for 9.30am appointment (there were people there trying to get in for 11am interviews and they were being told to come back at 10).
By the time I got into the embassy it was 9.40am. The guy on the door asked me for some odd form with a photo on it, I told him I didn't have a clue what he was on about. Turns out that is needed for non-immigrant visas so I was OK.
I guess I was waiting about 40 minutes to be called up to the first window. Gave affidavit, birth certificate, police certificate and 2 x photos. Was given my X-Rays and told to pack them in my suitcase when I go to the US. Went to pay the $131, returned to the window and was told to take a seat.
Probably another 40 minutes later I was called around for the interview with the US consular official. Had to raise my hand and swear the oath etc. Straightforward questions:
1) How did we meet
2) When did we meet again after the initial meeting
3) How many times have I been to the US
4) How many times has my fiancée been to the UK
5) Have I met any of her family
I was then told all was in order, and to go pay the courier. Was probably waiting in line for SMS for about another 40 minutes or so, paid my £14.00 and was out of there.
Can't really fault the process asides from the long waiting periods.
