My K1 interview was on June 14. We were nervous going in, but it was honestly better than we expected. We parked right across the street. Our appointment was at 7 and there was plenty of parking available at that time. They also have a place right inside the parking lot to store your phone if you want but we didn’t do that. You line up outside 10 min before your interview. They take you through security and then you move on to the next building. The set up for the next building is very much like the DMV. Numbered Windows with microphones and a waiting area. They call your name over the intercom and you walk up to the window. So at that window they asked some pretty basic stuff.
Do you have your birth certificate?
Do you have your police certificate?
Do you have your medical results?
They had him take his finger prints.
Asked him if his son would be added to the petition in the future?
They verified an old phone number and updated it to his current number.
We were then sent to the main seating area were we would be called for our interview. We were there for about 15 min and then a window opened up right in front of us and the woman called us over the intercom. She was super nice. Was smiling and chatting which made me instantly less nervous.
She asked how did we meet?
When did we meet?
How long have we been together?
What did we do on my first trip out to see him?
Where do you stay when you come to visit in DR?
Has he ever been detained or had an issue with the police?
What are your plans as a couple when he arrives in the US?
What do I do for work?
Do I make enough to support him in the US?
For that question I said yes and showed her my folder containing my affidavit of support and I asked her if she’d like to see it. She laughed and said no I believe you! And that was it. I asked her how we did and she said it was good. My fiancé didn’t have his medical results because they sent him for additional tuberculosis testing and those results will be ready in 9 weeks. The consular officer said my case will remain in admin processing until those results are received . Glad that part is done. Now just waiting for the results!
