Hi guys
I had my interview today, and am now approved!! Yay!
I got there at 7:45, and there was already a moderate queue. A ploceman asked me what time my i/view was,I said 8am, he said ok. Then waited, for about 5 mins and got to security, who asked for my passport, letter, my belt, phone & ipod, and put it in a plastic bag. Then you go through the metal detectors, before which you are asked your name from anotehr security guard.
Once security checked, you follow a path through to the entrance of the building whre you are asked to show your letter again, and given a barcode with a number on it.
Then you wait in the waiting room for your number to be called - I waited about 20 mins, as I was 5006 (all immigrant numbers start at 5000), and they did most of the non-immigrant numbers (1000's) first.
Then the lady checks your docs (they already had mine from the NVC, so nothing else was needed from me), ask me a few q's like my husbands name, am I adopted?
Then she took my passport,gave me a pink courier sheet, asked me to take a seat, and wait for my number again.
This time I waited 45 minutes or so, and then my number was called to see the Consular officer, who was lovely, bless his cotton socks! He made small chit chat, how we came to the decision to live in the US instead of the UK (I told him cos my husband said 'hell no!' when i asked him to!)He laughed. He asked the longest I had lived in the US, and I told him I hadn't, just visited for 2 months, and he said 'o yeh, ok' He asked when I was going, and then smiled and said 'Your visa has been approved - congratulations!'(I think I nearly fell in love wth him right then
Then you take your pink slip to the courier people; I paid the extra for the before 10am delievery, and they give you a receipt,and I was done!!! By 10.30am on the dot, I was out.
What a weight has been lifted; good luck to everyone else, its the most easy part to be honest!!
