I was actually running late for my interview - phoned the embassy and while the lady I spoke to said she couldn't contact the immigrant visa unit, there was time allotted for lateness.
Interview was at 10. Arrived at 10:15, went through airport style security. Went to check in and was asked for ds260 page and passport both times. Was instructed to go up the lift to the first floor and hang a left. Lady at the top after I got out directed me to the IV waiting area.
Waited maybe 10 minutes before being called to a booth. Went through civil documents and fingerprints. All staff encountered thus far were super chill and friendly, process was simple and straightforward, even made a bit of small talk with the first CO about my beard lol.
Sat down again and waited maybe 15 minutes before my number came up again, this time for the 'interview' bit. Was asked a few questions; where would I be staying, where I got married, and for a little more info about moving to Ireland for a year/timescales. CO was pleasantly surprised that I came up with exact dates.
Was approved verbally but instructed to upload 2019 1040 for my wife - we hadn't originally submitted this because of timing/IRS delays due to covid but I had a physical copy with me that he was happy with when he saw. Technically I was given the dreaded 221g green slip, but this was more a formality seemingly. Document was uploaded to the ceac before I even left the building. Status changed to issued today, 09/12.
Few things to take note of - 1st, you get 45mins leeway to be late, which is nice. Second, the entrance to the building was a little weird to find but security are happy to help with directions. Finally, preemptively uploading recent 1040s should stop any 221g stuff from happening. While it didn't affect my processing at all, someone else on here mentioned that it had set them back a little over a week... I'm thanking my lucky stars but anyone reading this, maybe upload stuff before you go in if you haven't gotten the most recent tax docs.
Other than that, 10/10 would reccomeend 😂
