Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I was at the consulate in Frankfurt today for my IR1 visa interview.

We stayed overnight at a hotel nearby and left my phone at the hotel.

I arrived around 7:30 for my 8:15 interview, and was glad I arrived that early because it meant that all the lines I had to wait in were shorter. Waited outside for maybe 20 minutes, and once I was inside, I had to go to three windows/counters:

(1) cashier (pay my fee in euros or dollars, show my print-out that I registered online the address where my passport and visa should be sent)
(2) document person (confirmed my basic details and those of my spouse and parents, etc. They already had all my original documents.)
(3) actual interview (this just took a few minutes - he asked me about how I met my husband, when we plan to move to the USA, and what I plan to do when I arrive (ie: work?) and made me swear that the info I was giving him was true.)

My medical results haven’t been assessed yet, so they could not tell me if my visa is granted, but they said that they will “make their decision” once they’ve seen the medical results.

They also said the consulate is operating at 50% capacity (half-staffed) due to covid.

Overall they were all easy-going and kind. My main tip is to arrive a bit early
