My interview was at the Paris Embassy in France at 9:15am on July 23rd.
I arrived early and the guards made me wait until 9:15am before letting me in.
There was a tent in front of the embassy where they checked your bags and then an embassy worker asked me for my police certificate, passeport and interview registration confirmation. Then she told me to go to security and then go to booth 7.
I passed security (it's like airport security).
Then I waited for booth 7 to be available. I could hear everything the person before me was saying and what the officer was asking him so I was prepared.
I then went to booth 7, the lady was very nice and asked me if my address in France and in US where correct as well as my phone number and the date of my marriage.
Then she asked me for 2 photos, birth certificate and mariage certificate. She asked me when I was intending on entering the US and I said as soon as I have my visa. She took my fingerprints and told me that they would send all of my original documents and my passeport through the mail.
Then she told me to sit and wait for my name to be called. Again I could hear the interview of the person before me so there were no surprise.
When the officer called my name I went up the booth and he was super nice as well.
He asked if I spoke english, I said yes.
He made me take an oath.
Then he asked :
- Who asked for you to come in the US ? I gave my spouse's name.
- When did you get married?
- How did you meet?
- Do you have any pictures ? I had prepared a book with pictures, flights and bnb receipts.
He smiled and said "I believe you" and told me looking at the photos was his favorite part of the job.
- Where are you gonna live in the US ? Gave him the address.
- Do you have kids? Not yet.
He then took my fingerprints and told me that would receive my passeport next week because due to covid-19 they only print out visas on Thursdays.
It was very quick the interview lasted 10min and the whole process lasted 45min.
I had an overall smooth experience but I noticed that when people had joint sponcers and they asked for the affidavit of support so make sure you have all the documents if your spouse doesn't meet the income requirements.
