Interview today went very well, easy and straightforward.
I walked from the Vauxhall underground station and from there, the embassy is very to easy find. It’s hard to miss the giant flags and odd diamond shapes all over the building! The building itself is between a small moat type of water and a lovely garden with water/ pond like feature, very nice to sit and wait for your appointment time.
Two days before my interview, I received an email stating that it was best to get there for 15 minutes before my appointment time so I arrived at 10.15 for a 10.30 appointment. The entrance you need to go in is near the ‘garden side’ and is signposted as ‘south pavilion’. There is a small building you have to go through before you can go to the main embassy and this is where you go through an airport like security. At the door your printed appointment date is checked and you’re asked to open up your phone and use an app. After that, you are let in where you put your belongings through the X-ray machine and you walk through one yourself. After this, you exit the small security building on the other side and walk towards the main building (don’t panic - everything is well sign posted!)
After entering the main building, I was greeted by a woman at the main desk. She asked to see my passport and confirmation email where she put stickers on my confirmation. She then told me to go to the lifts on the right and press visa services then turn left and left. As I’ve read before, the door you enter lift is only for the ground floor, the door on the other side is the exit for visa services. After coming out of the lift, I was greeted by another lady who seemed to be double checking that I knew where I was going and again said left then left.
After following this, I came to a waiting area which had cubicles to the back where interviews were taking place. The stickers that were given had a number and where to wait. There is a tv screen in the waiting area that displays your number and cubicle number when it is your turn. I had only waited for 5 minutes and was called up. The guy I spoke to was very nice. He asked for my original documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate and police check). I then had my finger prints taken and had a light chit chat before I was asked to sit down and wait for my number to be called again.
After another short wait of around 10 minutes, I was called again. It was a lady this time and she was also very nice. After taking an oath to say all my statements were truthful, she asked questions which again felt like light chit chat. Questions like how did you meet? Why did you decide to get married? What does your husband do for work? All very easy questions.
After having a look through all the paperwork, there was a slight snag! The W2 that our co-sponsor has supplied was ‘incomplete’. After asking what this meant I was told that I have to get the full version sent to an email address (they supplied this to me on a piece of paper). I asked what would this mean in terms of processing time, that if I had this information uploaded today, how long would it take? I was informed I would have my passport back in 1-2 weeks. So it sounded like they view the information pretty quickly!
I am thinking because they kept my passport, after the complete W2 is uploaded, everything is complete 😃
