I went into the London embassy at 10:10am, went up to the kiosk outside the main door and handed over my DS-260 confirmation page, (which had photos paperclipped to it) along with my passport.
She wrote something on my DS-260 and instructed me to enter the building to go through security. Before I went through security, I was asked to unlock my phone to make sure it was working, then i put my items in a tray and walked through a metal detector/scanner.
This literally took not even 5 mins and i was instructed to go through the door and walk up the hill to this main embassy building (south pavillion I think it was called).
I was so excited and so in awe of how amazing the building looked!
So once i was inside the building, I walked up to the main desk and handed over my passport and DS-260 again which he put a new sticker on with my identification number on.
I was advised to take the lift up to the first floor, then turn left, walk down the corridor and turn left again. (I looked up lots of reviews so i already knew exactly where to go😂). Although once i got there I forgot that I need to sit down and i lined up for about 10 seconds until I realised I need to take a seat.
After about 10mins of waiting my identification number came up on the screen instructing me to go to a certain booth. While there i spoke to a lovely lady who basically asked me for my marriage certificate, birth certificate and police check. She scanned my fingerprints and also asked a few questions (when I got married and felt like just casual chit chat).
She also gave me a page advising me of my rights in the US that i was asked to read while I waited for the actual interview.
I sat back down and waited another 15mins roughly and read through the rights.
I was then called up for my interview and the woman i could tell was serious but very nice, she asked when I met my husband and how did i meet him. And then wanted to clarify if my husband lived in Ireland when I met him, to which i advised he was just visiting. She also asked me who he was living with at the moment. So the questions were relatively very very straightforward and it felt very comfortable and almost informal which put me at ease.
She advised me that she would approve my application and i will receive my passport within approximately 2 weeks and that was it! My husband was waiting outside so it was fantastic to be able to share that moment with him in person.
They did NOT ask for my public charge form but i had it ready regardless, nor did they ask for copies of the tax returns. I’d definitely recommend bringing them anyway as it’s much better to have more evidence than not enough!
