London, United Kingdom | Review on May 7, 2008: | kgas

Fiance went to the American Consulate in London at 9 a.m. on the date of the interview and everything appeared to go without a hitch at first. He was called to the counter at 9:15 a.m. and was asked a few questions about why we decided to move to America instead of the United Kingdom, how we met, very minor stuff. Officer asked to see the I-134 Affidavit of Support and barely glanced at it and didn't even want to see co-sponsor documents.
Then he asked for the police certificate and my fiance produced one; however they had just started taking a new police certification as of "two days ago." We were not given any notice of this policy change before our interview. Therefore, our case was suspended "pending missing documentation." As a result, we had to pay an additional $200 in courier fees and police certificate requests and are still waiting for our visa to arrive. This was needless bureaucracy and we would have appreciated the courtesy of some notice of the change.
