We got married in a different country from our own. Mine, US, her's, France and this cost us extra delays and hassles from both governments.
Since we lived in New Zealand for one year we needed a police report from this country for my wife. I did not know this while filling out all the paper work. I thought we did it all.
We had her PR from France, but he immi officer wouldn't let this slide even though her France record was squeaky clean. We understood. Who know's? If you let it go on one person, why not let it go on all.
I couldn't be in there with her so I only found out later. We were heartbroken, we had all the hope that we would fly back together. More heartbreak was to come unrelated to the embassy.
They did their job. It didn't work in our favor, but they fulfilled screening prospective immigrants correctly.
