I thought I will just copy my interview experience from Nebraska Forum, so here you are:
There were a couple of people waiting in line outside the Embassy, and a security guy came out and said they let people in, but only those who have their appointments scheduled at 8.00 in the morning. So I told him I have my appointment scheduled between 8.00-10.00 and he said:
- Ok, so you are for an immigrant visa section, you can come in! And he gave me a paper to fill out when I have a second, that was for DHL delivery, when I get my visa.
Ok, so I took 1 big envelope with the evidence of our relationship with Brad and 2 photo albums, and 2 folders with our papers, left my bag, my mobile phone with Aga and came inside. I didn't pay attention, but Aga said I entered Embassy at 7.45 in the morning.
The security at first asked me to present the invitation letter, they also asked to see my passport. So I showed them everything what they asked for and they gave it back to me, then they asked me to empty my pockets, took off my belt ( I didn't have one, hihi), then I had to walk thru metal detector gate.
I forgot to mention that security was very nice and friendly ( last year when I was at the Embassy with Brad to apply for a B2 visa, they were not that nice!!)
I left the security building and again I was outside, but this time on the Embassy yard. In front of me there was an entrance door to the embassy and three lines (red, blue and yellow) which were leading to the front door. I knew I can't just get in, and have to stand in the line before they ask me thru the microphone to enter. I also knew the red line was for immigration section so I took that one, and that was a great feeling because I was the only one there, so I knew I am not going to wait long!!! I remember I turned back and saw a lot of people waiting on the yellow line, which was for non-immigrant section, and I felt bad for them because it was cold outside!!!
But shortly after that the lady said thru the microphone "one person for immigrant visa section please enter" - or something like that, so I just entered the Embassy.
Next to the entrance there was a lady behind the desk, she asked me to show the invitation letter and my passport, then she gave me the numbers (1 in duplicate). She told me to enter immigration visa section, which was in front of her (behind my back). I remember that I had a hard time opening this door!!! They were so heavy! Finally I made it and was in the waiting area, with seats facing the interview boxes ( ya know what i mean ). I took my seat and kept staring at the board, waiting for my number and box number to show up. After a couple of minutes I saw my number and I had to walk in to a little room on the left.
Inside there were boxes no. 8, 9 and 10. Mine was number 10 with a nice lady behind the glass. I was asked to give her:
1. invitation letter
2. my passport
3. my birth certificate (long version)
4. 2 passport style pictures of me
5. DS-156 in duplicate (of course filled out) also DS-156K
6. my police certificate
7. affidavith of support (gave her 2 as we had a co sponsor, she was surprised)
8. envelope with medical examinations results
9. two numbers I received
That was it, she didn't ask for any bank letters, tax returns, letters of employer, nothing.
She gave me some kind of a receipt with one of the number attached to it. It was a pink paper for a cashier. She told me to go back to the waiting area and wait for my number to show up above the box/window no.1
I came back, and saw even more people there, but I think most of them came for their green card interviews. Anyways, I saw my number, paid the fee, and got back the receipt, the cashier said I am to give it to a CO.
I tried to remain calm, but really I was so nervous at the beginning, but more I had to wait for the interview, more I was mad, I was just tired and cold. I couldn't wait for my interview! After an hour of waiting, I wasn't nervous at all, felt comfortable and couldn't wait when it is finally over. I saw a couple of couples there, so I figured they came for K-1 and K-3 visas, and from that I saw they all got it. I also saw one girl, she came for her K-1 visa ( I heard them talking ), she was being interview on the box no. 6 for about 10 minutes, and I thought that was long. Shortly after her I was called to the same window. Finally after so much of waiting, I was happy to go there! It is worth to mention that the numbers didn't come in order....
... I went there and my CO smiled and said good morning in Polish, and asked if we can speak english. I said yes, of course. he asked for a receipt, he saw I filled out paper for DHL so he took it also. He asked me many questions, but he was very nice and very professional. The whole interview was a very pleasant experience. He asked me how we have met, when we met in person for the first time, what Brad does for a living, what country I have visited and for how long, did I finnish my college (how did he know I was in college? ), how much time does it take to defend a licence work in college, what was my major, what am I going to do in the USA when I get there and when I am going to leave Poland to the US. He also asked me if I ever been to the US, and when I answered no he was curious if I ever tried to obtain any type of visa. I said yes, B2 visa, a year ago to visit my fiance, but I was denyed. He asked if I remember what I was talking about with a CO back then during the interview. I said, not clearly but I am sure I mentioned I am going to visit him approximately for 3 weeks and also meet him Mom and the family. He was just shaking his head saying yes . I said that instead he came to Poland, and we both went to Germany for him to meet my parents and my sister, coz they live there. When i said that, he asked how much time the most I spent in Germany, I answered a month maybe. In between the questions he asked me, I had to sign the lower part of DS-156K and raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth. The interview was that relaxed that I asked him if he can give me any hint where to find out what documentation do i need to bring our ferrets to the US ( and I didn't know I have a visa yet! ) He said he doesn't know, as he doesn't have any animals, but it is good to check with the airlines, and he was very nice about it. Then he took my fingerprints and wished me CONGRATULATIONS!!! He also said HAVE A NICE something something, I don't know what he exately said, as I was thanking him. I aslo asked about DHL delivery payment, where to do it, and he said I will pay for it when they deliver visa to my home. I remember I also made a joke saying
-Oh and I brought two albums for you to see our pictures, and we were both laughing.
He said he saw a couple of our pic, they are great.
I left the Embassy immediately and was looking for my friend, she said it was 10.15 when I left, so it took 2.5 hours for the whole thing. So that is basically it.
I am sorry guys, I didn't mean for this story to be so long!
