ok, so there are so many of these london reviews that we were not going to submit one but i think that our situation was a bit different and we might be able to help someone in the future.

my fiancé’s appointment was at 9:30am and he arrived at 7:05, they said they would let him in at 8:30 so he went to the starbucks and wandered around a park that was close by until then... this part was all normal.

my fiancé was here on a b-2 visitor's visa for 14 months... he got it initially for 6 months and then had it extended. while he was out here he decided he wanted to start going to university so he could stay out here. the school told him he could adjust his status in the US so he waited for an interview and started school in the meantime. when no interview came, they told him he should go back to england to the embassy. while he started his first term here, he requested a 2nd extension of his visa. after the school term, he flew back to england and went to his interview. he got declined for the student visa because he wasnt able to prove significant ties to the UK (ie, he had been in the US for a long time with no job in the UK and had been in a relationship with a US citizen). after this interview i got a letter in the us that his b-2 visa also was denied for similar reasons. we then applied for a k1 visa. we love each other and always knew that we wanted to be together but didn’t realize that this visa stuff was so complicated!

anyhow, fast forward to today. he went in for his interview and they didn’t ask the typical questions like why are you two living in the US and not the UK, how did you meet... instead they asked about his b-2 visa, student visa, etc. luckily, we put together a binder of our 1-129f, docs needed for the interview, post 1-129f filing proof of relationship, and all proof of his prior visa applications for the b-2 and student visa. so, if you have ever applied for a previous us visa and been declined... be prepared to be asked about it. the CO was very nice and helpful and took the time to look through all our docs and thanked him for having all the information. if we didn’t, the outcome could have been different....hope this helps! and now, the wedding planning kicks into full gear! good luck
