Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | Review on April 25, 2008: | J&A
Rating: | Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
As expected while the CO was professional and efficient the consulate allowed their local staff to play the usual peasant power-trip of being deliberately rude and insulting.
I did business in Saigon for many years and found it easy and cheap to find and train local staff to meet western standards of service. Local vietnamese respond eagerly and quickly to even a little feedback and guidance. The consulate management is really dropping the ball here. And "busy" is no excuse, in the case of my wife's interview time was wasted because of their nasty lack of instruction and bungling incompetence.
And what's with the disproportionate number of northeners on staff? Don't make me believe the street talk that the consulate actively tries to find the worst Vietnamese trash to fill their staff.
I know the British consulate runs intensive vetting then service and professionalism training for their staff. What a pitiful representation from the United States. You think maybe a shared painful history would provoke a little more care in consulate management.
The visa was approved, but it was a lousy introduction to the United States.
