I got there at 7am and was the third in line. The consulate opened at 7:30am and everyone was very friendly from the beginning. Security handed out a letter and at 7:45am, they took the first four(A-D) up to the 19th floor to start the process. The staff is very helpful and professional. You get called to the window a few times(once to verify and supply documents, then to pay fees, then to have fingerprints). The last time you're called up you go into a booth and meet the officer. I had a very pleasant woman who verified some details, gave me back my documents and then had me take an oath. She asked me one question(how my husband and I met) and then said I was done. She told me I'd receive my passport and visa in a few days. That was it. I was out by 9:30am. The time varies for different people. In the group I went in with, the guy ahead of me was out by 9am. My advice- get there early. Bring something to read(you can bring a magazine) and as long as you have your papers in order- relax. Just make sure you have all the documents you need. I stressed out for the past few months and didn't sleep well last night and was surprised at how easy it was.
