My interview was on 12th December 2019.
So I went to the shuttle service areas really early (5:40AM), waited there for 20 mins outside the main gate as it was not open yet. Once the gates were open there was another wait of 20 min as the shed area where you buy tickets was not open.
At around 7:00 counters were open to buy shuttle service tickets, first they announced that people who have appointment timing of 7:00 to 7:30 come in line and get their tickets and after 30 mins they announced for other timings.
So reached embassy, they asked everyone to sit down and we will start the tokens in a while. Once they opened the token window everyone rushed and irrespective of the interview time mentioned on IL they started giving out token numbers as per line.
After getting the token from one window, second window started getting bio metric done (Took only 2 mins after getting the token to get bio-metrics done). Then there was a long wait to get my token number popped up on the third window for documentation collection.
Only asked for my marriage certificates (make sure to get original urdu nikah nama, Attested english translation and Nadra) and orginal birth certificate.
Then another 45 minutes before my interview and finally I was standing in front of VO.
Visa officer was really a nice guy, asked me how am I. Am i coming straight from Lahore and where I am staying and then asked to take the Oath
Questions Asked:
Was it a love or arrange marriage?
Where did we meet?
What I do for a living in Lahore and current designation?
Do I get to travel out of Pakistan due to my job?
asked about the visa's that I had on my passport? (It was all with my spouse)
and one last thing that i would like to go in detail
My wife was out of US for more than 6 months in her last visit and she went back on 23rd November 2019. So if you are out of US for more than 6 months the domicile gets inactive and your spouse has to go back and send the proof that her/his domicile is active again.
So the VO asked when did she visit me last, which I told him and he started calculating the dates to which I mentioned I know you are worried about the active domicile but she is back in US before my interview and has started a job. To which he said ok Good do you have any proof of that , any offer letter.
I had all that information, I showed him her appointment letter, boarding pass print outs, Pakistan exit Visa stamp and her driving licence picture.
He said you came prepared with a smile and said ok All looks good and you will get your passport in 2 weeks time.
He did not ask about marriage pictures (which I had a lot with me) no AOS nothing.
Advice is be confident, get dressed well like you would do for a good job interview and have a smiling face. Research as much as you can, you are the one wants to move and it is your responsibility to prove it to VO. I think he was convinced at the point when I myself mentioned about domicile so he knew I know how things work and did not even ask for any photographs.
Got my visa issued today 16th December 2019
