When I was getting ready for interview I was looking for every bit of information about consulate process and I promised myself I will write detailed review so it can help someone else.
I had an appointment at 9.30, I came with my US husband and 3 year old daughter. We entered at 9.15. There weren't many people in line and security check was fast. US citizens are allowed to leave car keys at the entrance with security.
Embassy is very nice inside, toilets are clean, free drinking water is available. There is nice kid corner where my daughter was playing and didn't want even to leave, and also there are coffee and chocolate bars from dispenser. So it's worth to carry some money if you need to drink or snack while waiting.
As soon as we entered I was directed to the boot to submit all my documents and take fingerprints. Ukrainian lady who did all that stuff was so nice. After i had to come out and waited until my number was called. My interview was conducted by very pleasant officer.
Although i was told that petitioner's presence is not necessary and it doesn't affect consul decision, I have to say it definitely make things go smoother. We were asked a few standard questions: where we met etc. Mostly I felt that interview was done to my husband and not to me ))
My visa was approved. All together the process took 1 hour 40 min
in 2 days passport was mailed.
